Snoop Doggy Dogg thinks the Steelers are da bomb

Updated: Sep 24, 2022

Here's a party fact for you: Snoop Dogg is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. It's unexpected, groovy, and a bit disputed - here's more than you ever needed to know about the top dogg in Steelers Nation.

It all started when he was a kid

With all his West Coast representin', you'd assume Snoop would be for one of the west coast teams. But Snoop explains to the Manning bros that while growing up in LA through the 70s and watching with his dad, he fell in "luv" with football and especially the then-winning Pittsburgh team. As an adult, he got to meet the players, coaches (including Head Coach Mike Tomlin), and became one of Steelers Nation's most famous members.

And frankly, I've gotta say, I'd rather hear Snoop talk about football than most... His opinions seem pretty legit, whether it's his love for Terry Bradshaw or his raw expressions of post-game frustration.

More recently, he's gotten into talent development through creation of his own youth football league, documented on the Netflix series Coach Snoop.

Current active player, JuJu Smith-Schuster, came up through the youth league to be drafted in 2017 by none other than the Steelers.

Music videos speak louder than words

The Doggfather has been immortalizing his Pittsburgh love from the start of his legendary career.

  • Gin & Juice - While this example is only anecdotally related because it is a hockey jersey, it does show Pittsburgh pride from the literal beginning. And if you haven't watched this video for a while, do yourself the favor. Laaaid back.

  • Vato - In 2006, Snoop rocked all the Steelers merch for this collab with B-Real.

Hopped out the '6-trey, nowhere to go Til' Snoop pulled up in that Pittsburgh Steeler '6-4
  • Gangsta Luv - Later, in 2009, Snoop got to drive a convertible into the Steelers' stadium in this video while decked out in more merch.

  • Potential Collab with Le'veon Bell? - Never one to shy away from a collab, there was a press cycle in 2016 in which former Steeler Le'veon Bell very vocally expressed his desire to record with Snoop. This researcher could not find evidence that anything has actually been released, but Snoop says it's done & dope as f***.

Ok, but is he a bandwagoner?

Ask the internet, and you'll find a lot of folks saying if Snoop doesn't support your team, it means it doesn't exist. There's also photo evidence and a lot of memes that look like this.

My POV? Snoop just really loves two things (other than weed): sports & matching outfits. Pretty sure both his money and his mind are on the Steelers.
